Oh Lord, open my hands, to serve my neighbor as myself.

Proverbs 19:17

    and will be repaid in full.

Poem: If I can stop one heart from breaking by Emily Dickinson

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Closing prayer

Savior and redeemer, you gave everything to unite humanity with God. Teach me to serve. Help me to see Christ in all people and be Christ for all people, serving all people with love. Help me to be generous when it is easier to keep my possessions close. Help me to be kind when it is easier to be angry. Help me to be forgiving when it is easier to place blame. For in you, Lord, there is no restraint, no anger, and no blame. May your love find a home in me and overflow for others. Amen.
