Let’s start again.
The church has gotten a lot of things wrong, but the promise of the resurrection is that we can always start again. Resurrect This was founded with this purpose: to give a voice to small, grace-filled churches and counter the prevailing narrative of Christianity in America that disparages LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, people in poverty, and others.
Meet Cate
Professional background
Our founder Cate holds a Master’s degree in Public Communication from American University and has been working in communications, program management, and international relations for more than 20 years.
Cate recently founded Resurrect This as a way to live out her call to ministry alongside her professional career and to support small churches that cannot afford dedicated communications staff.
Theological background
Cate grew up in the Lutheran (ELCA) church in Pennsylvania. Having gone through several periods of particular religious devotion, once in high school with a non-denominational youth group, and again after her divorce, she ultimately rediscovered the Lutheran church and found a welcoming community there. She considered becoming a pastor and completed a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies at United Lutheran Seminary.
Cate’s strongest held belief is that we cannot understand God. We understand about as much about God as a plant understands about photosynthesis. That is, not much. It nevertheless reaches for the sun.
Cate’s understanding of the Gospel is broad and inclusive, recklessly generous, and overflowing with grace.
